Annotation: This external review draft is a compilation of research as well as various studies completed by the Environmental Protection Agency in order to determine the potential impacts of hydraulic fracturing on drinking water resources. Based on the draft, the Environmental Protection Agency has found specific instances where one or more mechanisms led to impacts on drinking water resources, including contamination of drinking water wells. However, the Agency has determined that the number of identified cases was small compared to the number of hydraulically fractured wells.
