Spotlight: Exxon Mobil signs Wildlife Mitigation Plan
for Colorado Operations
ExxonMobil signed a voluntary wildlife mitigation plan (WMP) in July 2010 covering development operations in 149,946 acres in Rio Blanco County, Colorado. In the WMP, ExxonMobil agreed to drill multiple wells from each development pad, increasing the maximum of 10 wells per pad to a target of 22 wells per pad. The COGCC memo “Status report on efforts to address impacts of oil and gas operations on wildlife habitat” further discusses the agreement.
Benefits of consolidation:
- The target of 22 wells per pad will decrease the environmental footprint by approximately fifty percent.
