Title: |
Recycling of Drilling Solid Waste |
Text: |
"Solid waste (trash) is sorted on the rig into commodity categories (aluminum, tin, cardboard, paper, and plastic). Multiple bin trash compactors are designed to handle each of these categories. Green colored bags are used for the recyclables to differentiate from non-recyclables. A tagging system is used to identify the rig and the commodity. Storage bins are placed at the dock facility in Fourchon to store the compacted bags until pick up. A pickup service transports the bags to the recycling center in New Iberia where mentally and physically challenged adults weigh the bags, inspect the commodities and remove any impurities. A tracking system is used to report the amount (in pounds) of recyclables sent to the dock by each rig." |
