Text: J. Public Safety Around CBM Infrastructure: "BMP 4: Coal Fires. In the San Juan Basin, dewatering of Fruitland Coals may contribute to coal fires burning at the outcrop. While control of such coal fires has proven to be extremely difficult, during dry periods, areas near underground coal fires should be monitored for grass and forest fires."
