Title: |
Freeze thaw-treated water meets standards for livestock watering, irrigation, and dust suppression |
Text: |
"Freeze Separation Processes: FTE® (Freeze Thaw Evaporation) is a process whereby CBM-produced water is stored in a holding pond until air temperatures drop below 0°C and is then removed from the pond using pumps and sprayed onto a separate freezing pad which consists of an elevated pipe grid with strategically placed sprinklers. Unfrozen brine water drains from the ice grid and is separated using conductivity-controlled valves. The concentrated brine can then be transported to separate storage ponds for secondary treatment or disposal. ... Freeze Thaw Evaporation (FTE®) process is currently being used in Alaska, Colorado, and Wyoming (ALL 2003). ... Water treated in Alaska using the FTE® process produced 53% potable water, 27% evaporated, and 20% remaining high in TDS. ... FTE® water meets standards for livestock watering, irrigation, and other uses such as dust suppression." |
