Soil bioremediation bmps for microorganisms |
Text: |
Solids and Cuttings Management: "There are many commercial microbial products on the market for enhancing soil bioremediation. Published results by independent researchers indicate that these products do not enhance biodegradation rates or end-points for hydrocarbons or other organic compounds. The reason that "bug" products are not needed for soil bioremediation is that most soils contain a sufficient population of microorganisms to biodegrade amenable contaminants. Optimizing conditions for soil microorganisms requires that the pH, nutrients, moisture, and aeration are adjusted. For some soils, amendments to improve soil texture and organic content are needed." |
